This hot water that irrigates the palm groves, corn fields, bean fields, and the beautiful nature of Gatete in general, is one of the riches that the commune and province of Rumonge in southern Burundi abounds with. It is a place of relaxation for some, healing for others, and a source of income for the local administration and communities around.
Located just about 11 kilometers from Rumonge center, a swimming pool has been built where people bathe. At almost every moment of the day, from Monday to Sunday, men, women, young people, children, etc., meet in this water as if they had arranged to meet there. But women still have a special day that is offered to them, it is Wednesday, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.
There, they are alone and can make themselves comfortable away from prying eyes. A young woman who works there testifies that at this precise moment, they are more numerous.
