Day 1: Visit Teza and Gishora Sanctuary of Drums
Your first day will start from Teza, a hidden gem located on the edge of Kibira forest, sits at an altitude of 4500-7000ft above sea level, and which has been growing tea since it was introduced into the hilly country during Belgian occupation in 1931.
The greenery of the estate is relaxing and tranquil, and the breeze bears countryside freshness. A scenic view from a distance gives the impression of a green carpet spread over rolling hills.
To close your day in style, you will visit the Gishora Sanctuary of Drums to experience Burundi culture as well as the architecture of a traditional royal palace. Burundi drums are on the UNESCO WHS list and they are known to be the best drums ever.
Day 2: Karera Falls and Source of Nile
Your destination on the fourth day will take you to Karera Falls, a spectacular series of waterfalls in Southeastern Burundi that offer an impressive and refreshing spectacle.
After Karera Falls, Nyakazu Fault will be visited, a site for German military fortification from World War I where you find a perennial waterfall with a height of over 100 m.
On your way to the next destination, a short visit will be paid to the southernmost source of the Nile River.
Day 3: Rumonge Visit
Known for its most beautiful beachfront hotels, it’s best fitting destination to enclose your tour in style and in a most relaxing way.
While in Rumonge, you will enjoy swimming, fishing, hiking, and boating on Lake Tanganyika, as well as exploring the town’s rich cultural heritage and sampling the local cuisine.
