Day 1: Bujumbura City
Your first experience will be to explore the beauty of Bujumbura city. The city offers a magnificent experience for relaxation and recreation with a pleasing view of Lake Tanganyika, the world’s longest freshwater lake and the second-largest of the African Great Lakes.
In the city, you will experience local markets and talented artisan shops, where you can purchase unique souvenirs to bring home with you.
Day 2: Kibiria National Park
In a range of attractions, day 2 will start from Kibiria National Park, a fascinating and breathtaking destination for wildlife enthusiasts and considered ‘the most important site in Burundi for the conservation of montane-forest birds. Across the park, you will explore the scenic beauty offered by Teza tea plantations, a hidden gem located on the edge of Kibira forest.
From the park, your next destination will take you to Gishora Drum Sanctuary, a unique way to experience Burundi culture as well as the architecture of a traditional royal palace.
Day 3: Ruvubu National Park
On your third day, you will visit Ruvubu National Park, home to several wildlife species, most notably Cape buffalo, hippopotamus, Nile crocodile, waterbuck, numerous duiker species, five primate species, including olive baboon, vervet monkey, red colobus monkey, blue monkey, and Senegal bushbaby.
The day will be closed by a community visit, a way to closely connect to local communities and meet local women farmers to learn from their experience especially their efforts to cope with climate change effects.
Day 4: Karera Falls - Nyakazu Fault
You will embark on a memorable trip to visit the famous Karera Falls and the Nyakazu Fault known as the Germany Faults. Karera Falls is a spectacular series of waterfalls while Germany Faults is a site of German military fortification from World War where can still be found some remainders of German fortification.
The tour will make you discover the source of the Nile which has intrigued explorers for centuries as they sought to uncover the origins of this mighty river that winds its way through several countries before finally emptying into the Mediterranean Sea.
You will sum up the day at Sunstone Beach Hotel to experience a unique getaway on the shore of Lake Tanganyika, a hidden jewel in the heart of Africa.
Day 5: Lake Tanganyika -Departure
After spending a night in a garden view at the shores of Lake Tanganyika, your last day will be marked by an immersive experience where you meet fishermen and learn from their experiences.
At the end of your tour, you might decide to stay at the lake and enjoy the beauty offered by the beach before you embark on your short trip back to Bujumbura.
